Our Team

Dr. Rebecca Barnes, a 1992 graduate of The University of Houston College of Optometry, was born and raised in Mill Creek.  After graduating from Mill Creek High School in 1985, she attended Oklahoma State University prior to entering optometry school in 1988.

She is board certified in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease including macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes.  Dr. Barnes practices primary care optometry with an emphasis in contact lens fitting and laser vision correction.  She is an active member of the Oklahoma Optometric Physicians Association and American Optometric Association.  She enjoys giving back to her community through multiple community organizations and activities.

Dr. Barnes married her husband, Jon, in May of 1994 and they enjoy spending time with their two daughters.  She is an avid runner and has completed a marathon and numerous half-marathons.

Dr. Elizabeth Cole grew up in Wilson, Oklahoma.  After graduating Valedictorian of her high school class, she attended SOSU in Durant, Oklahoma.  She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry earning Summa Cum Laude Honors in 2000.  Dr. Cole received her Doctorate of Optometry Degree from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 2004.  After graduation she joined the practice of Barnes Vision Clinic in Ardmore.

Dr. Cole has been a member of the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians since 2000.  Dr. Cole is also an affiliate of nJoy Vision. She provides pre-operative and post-operative care for LASIK, PRK and Keratoconus eye disease, including corneal crosslinking and Intacs.  She is board certified in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome.

Dr. Cole provides her optometric services to the community by participating in the Vision USA and InfantSEE programs.  Dr. Cole and her husband, Preston, reside in Sulphur, OK and enjoy raising their two sons.

Traci joined Barnes Vision Clinic in 2003, serving as the office manager until moving with her family to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2014. Traci currently works remotely from her home as our billing and coding specialist. She coordinates the insurance billing, provides administrative support, and insurance training for new team members. Traci enjoys spending time with her husband and trying to keep up with their two busy teenagers schedules.

Heather has been with Barnes Vision Clinic since August 2005. Even though Heather started as the receptionist, she took over the Office Manager position in October 2014. In August 2023, she received her Certified Paraoptometric Assistant Certification. Heather’s duties include overseeing employee performance and general duties to keep the office running smoothly on a day to day basis. She regularly attends continuing education classes to stay current in her field. Heather also has experience in other areas of the office including contact lens instruction and optical.

Heather married her husband, Kye, in March 2005 and they enjoy spending time with their son, Jarek.

Robin joined the Barnes Vision Clinic family in October 2023, as the front desk coordinator. She enjoys the challenge of keeping the schedule flowing and working with our patient’s to ensure she finds the perfect fit for their calendar and ours. Her favorite part of the job is meeting all of our patient’s with a smile and warm greeting. Outside of work, Robin enjoys her adult children, and pampering her german shepherds.

Lindsay started at Barnes Vision Clinic June 2022, as the office assistant. Her duties include assisting with the check in and check out process, as well as, performing OCT scans, visual field exams and teaching the instruction and care class for contact lenses. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new people. Outside of work she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, Frank, such as fishing, camping, hiking and riding their motorcycle with friends.

Payton joined Barnes Vision Clinic in June of 2021. As a Doctor’s Assistant, her responsibilities include pretesting patients, making referrals, and assisting the doctors with giving the best care possible. During her free time, she enjoys watching “Keeping up with the Kardashians”, spending time with her significant other, and playing with her daughter, Willow.

Paula Bench joined Barnes Vision Clinic in May of 2023. She previously worked as a Pharmacy Technician/Manager for 18 years. Her responsibilities with Barnes Vision Clinic are pretesting patients, making referrals to specialists, and assisting the Doctors in patient care. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the patients.
Paula has been married to Charles since 1980 and they have one son and daughter-in-law. She enjoys spending time with her family, singing in her church choir, and traveling to the Caribbean.

Kara became a member of the Barnes Vision Clinic team in September 2021. She previously was in the dental field for 21 years as a dental assistant and office manager. Her heart is patient care and loves interacting with people. Her favorite part of being an optician is assisting patients with choosing the perfect frame and lens for their specific needs. Kara was married in June of 2022 to her husband Mike. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping with her 2 daughters, crafting and loving on her 22 pound black Bombay cat, Angus.

Joy joined Barnes Vision Clinic as our Front Desk Coordinator in April 2019. In November of 2023, Joy joined our optical team as an optician. Her favorite part of being an optician or just being a part of BVC is the patients and the relationship she builds with each one of them.
Joy is happily married and has two beautiful daughters. Her favorite thing is to travel/cruise the world. Joy attends Global Harvest Church where she is part of the Pastoral Team.
